How ADD Times-Roman font

Times New Roman in MS Word in Tiger differs substantially from Times-Roman.

Currently working with text scanned from book which uses Times-Roman and need to add chapters.
While I can add text in THAT font style INSIDE the text from the scan, unable to create new paragraphs in it, always comes up in Times New Roman.

Years ago there was a way to capture the hidden code at the end of a paragraph (regarding font, etc)
and use it on other documents, but unable to achieve that in Tiger.

Were can I obtain, and add it, to the fonts that open in MSWord X Service Release 1 or Tex-Edit??
Thanks

Thanks for the reply and the references.
You may be right that TODAY there's no difference as I did find an article describing the evolving use of Times Roman merging into Times New Roman. Yet my computer identifies one as Times-Roman
and the other very distinctly as Times New Roman with those word differences, so it IS recognizing two different types. To my eyes there is a difference but it does appear that it's no possible to get the T-R version for the computer.

Thanks for the help.

++RE:Good news, I see a difference here when I open Text in Text Edit & Select All & switch between Times/TR & TNR(MS), but mostly in the offsets, kerning, spacing .

Thanks for verifying.... the difference is subtle but on the material I'd created with visuals alongside made the difference seem more stark than it would otherwise have been. I tried to find the old font but have been unable to get it.

+Now, there are a few other Fonts that steal Times' Font number, have you investigated that angle?+
Not sure what you mean about a font 'number' as I only saw it when I was working in Text Edit.

Internaly the OS doesn't use the name, but a number, some "cheap" Fonts have a completely different name but use Times' number, in Font Book lok for something like Duplicated Fonts... not on Tiger/10.4 at the moment.

I tried to find the old font but have been unable to get it.

then extract what you need from your Install Disk, then Install, if/when it asks to overwrite, go ahead.
