CME VX5 MIDI Controller

Hi,
i've just got a CME VX5 MIDI Controller for Christmas and it has motorised faders. When I use Mainstage and switch between different patches the faders on Mainstage move but the faders on the CME MIDI Controller don't move. Does anyone know how I can get them to move on the keyboard as well? It's just annoying because when I move the faders on the keyboard the sound has a sudden change because it moves from where the keyboard faders start and not mainstage.
(sorry for the description, wasn't the best, if anyone needs more info or a better description just mail back)
Thank you in advance
Merry Christmas
Josh

MainStage doen't know this keyboard and therefore doesn't know about the motor faders. Without that MainStage doesn't actively send MIDI to the keyboard. There are two ways for MainStage to support more complex devices:

(a) via the already mentioned option. Go to "Layout" mode, select a knob, "Learn" the assignment and select the "Send Value to" after learning. Then go to "Edit" mode and move the fader in the workspace with the mouse: does the fader on the VX5 work? Then you are done.

(b) via a special device adaption. This is necessary if the device requires special MIDI messages to control it's status e.g. to update displays, etc. In that case you probably have to contact CME and ask them about device support for MainStage.

MIDI Thru = Do not pass through

Send Value To = Port 1 CME VX

The send value to is the same as my device. when it has learnt the action it recognises the device as Port 1 CME VX. However there is also an option for Port 2 which i have tried and still no luck. for the send value to i can also choose port 2 or 3 as well as 1. (i have tried these as well).
Should i be using a certain combination of these?

Have you assigned the slider controls so that they are associated with the appropriate MIDI CC number for the sliders on the CME?

I.e., click on each slider in edit mode, then in the third tab (which will probably be initially named "Unmapped", select the appropriate device (the channel strip tied to the external MIDI device) and select the appropriate value (probably a MIDI Controller with the desired CC number) on the right.

Hi still no luck. It works as a mixer in Logic but they don't work in Mainstage.
I'm starting to get used to that now, but is there any way that when I move the slider, it doesn't change the parameter until it hits the point that is shown on Mainstage?
ie. if the real slider is on +6.0db and my Mainstage slider says 0.0db, if i want to make it quieter, can i do it without the volume suddenly jumping up to +5.9db when i move it down?

There's a few modes for this.. and you can change it globally for everything or each object individually. The thing that you're looking for is the "Respond to hardware move' popup. You can see this in the preferences window, and also in the Attributes tab along the bottom when you select objects in Edit mode.

I prefer Pickup which means that you can move the fader on your hardware and nothing changes until you reached the saved value in the sound. So no sudden jumping because it doesn't respond until you 'grab' it.

The default is Jump which means that the parameter does just that. I guess this is what you're seeing.

The third choice is Relative which keeps the same difference between the incoming midi and the parameter value until it hits max or min when it will flattens out.
