I have an iMAC purchased in 4/09; a MacBook Pro - 5 years ago; and a Lenovo laptop with Windows XP - work assigned laptop.

I installed the Apple TV this morning, already backed up my iMAC and got my music to appear through my TV. But now I cannot connect to the internet on any of the computers...I had to disconnect from the cable modem and reconnect my Linksys router to get back on the internet to read all the discussions which are not helping me.

I have no spaces or dashes in the names of my laptop or imac or apple tv, time capsule or anything. I've been at this for over 12 hours and I'm exhausted.

What am I doing wrong? I do not have a separate router connected. The cable goes directly to the Motorola cable modem and then I have a cable connecting from the Motorola cable modem to the ATV internet WAN port. I also have a cable connected from an ATV ethernet port to my Lenox laptop. I have to tunnel into my work network using iPass.

HELP!

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Not sure I follow but I think you're saying your internet goes directly into the AppleTV box via Ethernet from a cable modem.

How were the other devices getting internet before - if there were several, were they getting it over wi-fi or was one of the computers doing internet sharing?

AppleTV is not a wireless base station, and it will not relay the internet to other devices, though other devices may see AppleTV across an ad-hoc local network on wireless.

I'm also confused when you say 'cable modem to ATV internet WAN port' and also 'cable connected from an ATV ethernet port to my Lenox laptop' - AppleTV has a single network socket - presumably you only have one connected at a time.

I really messed this post up...I was just logging back in to see if I could change it...I did connect my ATV today...the problem is with my TIME CAPSULE..I can't connect with it. Clearly I'm very tired.

Try Time Capsule forum, though if problem still partly involves AppleTV elaborate here.

    Clearly I'm very tired.
