Ella Ballerina Digital Camera

Hi

I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holidays.

My daughter got given an Ella Ballerina digital camera with absolutely no way to download images to a Mac. iPhoto doesn't spot it and nor does Finder. However, hardware Growler does. It indicates that is has seen a usb digital camera. But I don't know what to do next.

Could anyone advise me please on what to do next?

Thanks

Rich

I'll bet you are more upset than the young girl that got the camera but you have to understand how USB (and Windows "Plug and Play") work.
If the camera software is PC only that may be the only option to get the shots off the camera. Once on a Windows box you could probably move them to the Mac quite easily.
Let's try a bit more using the System Profiler on your Snow Leopard machine:
Under the Apple menu choose "About this Mac" and then click the "More Info..." button to launch System Profiler.
Click USB in the left column. Does the device show?

Totally upset - cheap rubbish camera that her auntie bought for her! And annoyingly windows!

Under System Profiler the device is shown as a USB Digital Still Camera with the following details:
Host Controller Location: Built-in USB
Host Controller Driver: AppleUSBUHCI
PCI Device ID: 0x27c9
PCI Revision ID: 0x0002
PCI Vendor ID: 0x8086
Bus Number: 0x3d

USB Digital Still Camera:

Product ID: 0x905c
Vendor ID: 0x2770
Version: 1.00
Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
Location ID: 0x3d100000
Current Available (mA): 500
Current Required (mA): Unknown (Device has not been configured)

Any ideas what next please?

Thanks

Rich
