Access External Hard drive via Ethernet connection iMac to AirportExtreme

Dear all,

I just bought an Airport Extreme. Everything works fine, I connected my external hard-drives to the airport extreme via a multiple USB card and I can access them wirelessly. I have also connected my iMac to the Airport Extreme via a ethernet cable hoping to be able to access the hard drives via the ethernet.

Unfortunately this doesn't work as I can only access them wireless.

I also would like to mention that I use the Airport extreme as a bridge and I have an airport express connected to the internet and I have the Extreme as a wireless extension of the network.

So...at the end of the day, I would like to know if it's possible and how can I connect the hard drives via the ethernet from my iMac and wireless from my other two macbooks that are using the system wireless.

Thank you for your help.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. I can write and read files from my 32G USB flash drive via wirelessy at amazing speeds. When trying to do the transfer via my iMac connected via ethernet cable, the transfer will not complete, locks up, and I have to relaunch Finder.

I am also using the AE in bridge mode.

My iMac has AE Utility 5.4.2 installed. I wonder if that is part of the problem. The wireless machine has 5.5 that shipped with the AE. Of course I trashed the CD.
