Migration Assistant - External Hard Drive

Hi - I am trying to use Migration Assistant on a MacBook Pro to transfer my files from a La Cie external hard drive - which has all my files backed up from a 2005 mac book (photos, music etc) The migration assistant does not recognise the LaCie Hard Drive although it is connected to the MacBook via a cable and I can see the Hard Drive & associated files on the desk top.

I'm not sure that Migration Assistant would be the best choice for what you want to do.

You don`t need the migration assistant to transfer your data from the external HD. Only connect the HD and locate it with the finder. Then drag to your mac book the files you want to transfer.
