A few days ago my volume bar just disappeared. It wont appear for movies or music. I reset my iTouch and started fresh and reloaded and still no volume bar. iPod software is getting worse and worse every update....lets call them downdates from now on.
can you still control the volume with the external buttons?
do you use any special headphones or stereo?
some headphones turn off the ipod's volume bar. unplug the headphones/speaker and the volume bar should return.
Hey. I have a first Gen Touch, and the same thing happened to me! I happened to be
in the Apple store when it happened again, and asked a Tech about it. He first said to do the 'hold-the-power-and-hold-buttons-simultaneously' thing in order to reset the iPod, but it didn't work. He was disapointed, and said that what an Apple Care person would next suggest would be to connect the iPod to your computer, do a factory restore, (or whatever it's called) in order to completely wipe the drive, and then reinstall all my stuff. I haven't tried this yet, sigh, seems like a lot of work, but that's what he said. Hey, Apple, if you're listening, could you fix this? I am so tired of having my 1st Gen NOT be backed up by Apple when it's only 3 years old!!! It works fine, and Apple has left us in the dirt. I am so disappointed in their lack of backup for us guys. You can't get 1st Gen screen protectors or cases or dock inserts; it's like we and our Touches, that we paid, like $250. for just 3 years ago, have been totally forgotten and "disappeared" like a bunch of unfortunate Argentinian activists...
No, I haven't done it yet, been busy. It seems to come and go in any case. Sometimes, when I can't find the volume or the progress bar, I just go back a level in the tree, like, back to the album if I was listening to a song, or back to "Audiobooks" if I was in the middle of a novel. And then go forwards again, and sometimes it comes back...Let me know if you find out anything, ok?
