iCal font size - too small

I have had it with ical's tiny little font. I cannot read anything I type. Can anyone tell me if there is actually a solution to this other than adjusting the screen resolution? has Apple addressed this issue? There seems to be a lot of people inquiring about this but they are from a while back so I asume it has been fixed. Pls anyone who knows let me know. Thanks

After a long time of being too frightened to press any of the keys on my laptop I finally get round to having a go a ical. WHAT A RUBBISH FONT SIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Help...iCal Help. Click on the gearwheel...Make Text Bigger. Oh bummer, that only applies to the help text. Maybe the iCal developers could talk to the guy who made this gearwheel, find out how he gets the font to grow bigger. Just a thought.

Someone earlier reported you can go to the Veiw menu and pull down to Make Text Bigger, or Make Text Smaller and that is the answer for lager text.

But I did just switch to BusyCal based on another recommendation in this thread, and wow I wish I'd done this before. It was well worth the money. It adds tons of features and brings back many I used to like. I only wish I'd done this a long time ago.

The only issue with BusyCal I have found is the search function is not nearly as good. I loved the way iCal produces a list at the bottom for search results. BusyCal just eliminates all other events except those searched and shows them on the calendar each month. No search list is produced..

Update to above. BusyCal does have the same search function, you just enter it by going to list view, then selecting a date range from the pull down menu on the top left. Then enter search criteria and a list of search critera within the date range will appear. Much more flexibiity with BusyCal and very glad I moved to it!!!

Amazing how Apple has worked so hard making the best cristal clear displays but totally ignored their long time die-hard loyal fans that are not blind but aging, and need features that make text and pictures easier to see.

Their software is plagued with idiotic features - just a few examples:

>If they use a darker easy to see font (Halleluia!), they spoil it by placing it on a dark gray background (look at bookmarks in safari)

>Their lightest grey fonts are usually used on a white background (iCal - see hours of day or days of month in daily or weekly view)

>Itunes - no Zoom function for their Itunes store - I have close to 1,000 purchased songs from Apple and I think it's time to find another source.

>Lots of software with fixed size font menue items.

An FYI - I am aware of the features Apple has available for the visually impaired. I don't fit this category yet, I don't like using them.

Disappointed Die-Hard Apple fan tired of "Pinch/Zooming" and seriously thinking of switching to the Google and PC world.

Just moved to a Mac on Saturday after a decade of pc and laptops; lovely new 27.5" iMac etc and the font size issue more than a little irritating. Took me a while to alter the settings on emails too but eventually found out how to do that. I appreciate it will take a while to adjust (and having had a good experience with iPad2) but the font issue in ical is a pain. Haven't dared open the magic/trackpad yet as it may go back to the shop unopened atthis rate.

Feeling a little underwhelmed at the moment

The small iCal fonts have driven me crazy for the last time. Hopefully. I just downloaded a 30 day free trail version of BusyMac's BusyCal program and it works very well as far as I can tell. Font size easily increased in preferences without being problematic within the calendar. Don't know why MAC was so slow with this. Another reason I love my MAC. If I can't find it in MAC's wheelhouse there are excellent developers all over who have something to fit the bill. If your iCal size is driving you nuts you might want to check this out.

Have you guys tried (command +) to increase the font size? That's how I increased mine...

Say your in the weekly view, click on some empty space and push command and + or - to increment or decrement (respectively) the font size.

COMMAND + does not do anything for me. Apple support have told me they are working on this issue.

I have the same problem. I thought I'd stop having this difficulty when I upgraded to a 27inch screen but I now have lot of applications open with tiny type that I still can't read ! Come on Apple - you guys might all be young but one day all of you will get old too. We'd like the option of type we can read without having our noses up against the screen please !

I feel desperately abandoned by Apple's uncharacteristically impossible-to-read iCal graphics. Think about it, almost invisible hairline rules, teeny date type, grey on grey display and it all adds up to unusable.

I’ve gone to BusyCal for the better view but there appears to be some synching bugs for getting remote-entered data to the Cloud on a regular basis. (There are two and three-day dropouts on the performance of this task through varied wi-fi and synching locations, which is frightening).

I trust Apple, I just can't read their displays in iCal.

Oh, yes, how about a Month-at-a-Glance style option for the iPhone/iTouch display so some version of the events show up in a small square besides just the big number and a "dot."? And a seven-day week that starts on Monday, please.

This last week I had to resort to (gasp) paper and pencil.

PLEASE, Apple, get this fixed.

Running the latest Tiger 10.7.4 on a brand new MacBook Pro

The font size everywhere throughout all applications (i.e. Systemwide) is just too small. Apple Hotline do not have a solution and neither have I been able to find a 3rd party utility.

Sorry Apple, but if no solution is forthcoming, you will get your machine back again.

Have you looked at the Macbook Pro with Retina display? Apple added a new Dots Per Inch (DPI) adjustment that makes system wide size adjustment, including application menue items, without the usual distortion to the displayed window. Check it out, it may work for you. I think this is Apple's answer to their very first generation of Apple fans.

The Retina display won't address the issue of poor contrast between the character color (grey) and the background. Higher definition of poorly executed characters color, size and design is the cause and you will need (as I do) a darker, bolder font in order to easily read the calendar.

I solved the issue with BusyCal. It has almost infinite personalization with any font and color you want.

Apple sadly forgot that they were in the business of customization from the beginning which is what made them so popular for me.

Try BusyCal.
