Windows/iTunes freezes when iPod is plugged in!

If I open iTunes on my computer and then plug in my iPod Touch, it freezes, but then as soon as I unplug my iPod, it starts working again. If my iPod is already plugged into my laptop and I click to open iTunes, it won't open, but as soon as I unplug my iPod, it opens like normal. Windows does not recognize my iPod when I plug it in, and I've already tried with other iPods and they work. I completely restored my iPod Touch and updated it to the newest firmware, but the only way Windows or iTunes will see my iPod is if it is in DFU mode. HELP!!!
