Importing Video TS folders to I Movie

I'm trying to import a home video movie from a DVD i made on a DVR in theVideo TS format into I Movie. It will not let me do it. It doesn't seem to like to TS format. Is there any way around this?

I Mac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Thanks for your tip, but i'm kinda stuck at Number 8. (I'm not too hip with computer applications)
Use FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME to convert the files to Apple Intermediate Codec (or h.264 if you prefer)
EWhen i open up Quicktime 7 it does not offer a File/export , nor does the current edition of Quicktime player. So i'm kinda stuck
