Grey/white lines appearing on screen like an etcha sketch

A few days ago I noticed a couple of small grey/white lines appeared on my screen. Over the days, they have grown. It reminds me of the old etcha sketch game. I've seen where quite a few others have had this problem. I called Apple and they basically said "too bad" you're phone is out of warranty. I've had my phone for under 2 years, and I paid full price for it when it came out. $500. They suggested I buy a new phone. I don't want to buy another iPhone if this is just going to keep happening. Does anyone have any information that can help me.

If the standard troubleshooting steps do not resolve this including restoring your iPhone as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, more than likely your iPhone has a hardware problem.

If you want another original or first generation iPhone, Apple offers an out of warranty or not covered under the warranty "repair" price, which pays for an exchange. The cost is $199 plus tax and does not require signing a new contract with AT&T.

If you aren't interested in doing this, you can check with a 3rd party repair service, but depending on which component or components needs to be replaced, it may not be much less than $199 which pays for an exchange.

If not, live with it or purchase a different phone.
