Hooking up Macbook Pro to Toshiba Lcd Tv.

Hello. I have the late 2008 Macbook pro with the mini display port. I want to hook this up to my high definition tv which has HDMI slots. I was wondering what adapters and Cables are needed to set this up. Thank you very much for your help.

Macbook Pro 2.53ghz, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

What kind of cable you need depends on the audio inputs your TV has, I'm assuming you are not going through a receiver. If your TV has a Toslink connection then you can get something like:

http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-Velocity-Toslink-27016/dp/B0002JFN1A/ref=sr12?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262062376&sr=1-2

If your TV doesn't have a Toslink connection then get a cable like this:

http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-Class-audio-cable-stereo/dp/B000J38N5C/ref=sr14?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1262062442&sr=1-4

Of the two get the former NOT the latter.

Yes it should however again if you your TV has a Toslink connection the sound will sound much better. When you run a cable like the one you have specified it is an analog signal, where as a Toslink connection is digital therefore the sound should sound clearer and if you need to run longer than 6' it will carry the signal better with less degradation.

BTW please don't answer your own post, it can get confusing who you intend your post to go to. 🙂
