Error beeps (when pressing keys)

Hi,

How does one stop the annoying error beeps occurring when an unused keyboard key - such as the 'Esc' key - is pressed in a window based Cocoa application?

iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo), Mac OS X (10.6.2)

SystemPreferences>Sound>SoundEffects>AlertVolume slider to minimum.

Oh, I meant from the Cocoa end. But that's a useful tip for general use, thank you!

Is there a way to disable the error sound when certain unassigned keys are pressed in an application, in either Xcode or Interface Builder?

kAudioServicesPropertyIsUISound allows one to override the silent setting, but I know of nothing that will do the opposite. I suspect that would be violating the desired 'look and feel' of a Cocoa app?

I've found a solution.

For anyone wondering the same question, try placing the following method in the code of each .m file, and test if it works:

- (void) keyDown: (NSEvent*) theEvent {}

For me, it was the NSView .m file, that made it work.
