Is comparing adobe after effects to final cut pro, a fair comparison? What I mean is, looking around on youtube, I see better... effets on projects made with projects on after effects. now, I love FCP for editing, does adobe give a better program thats can do effects. I am looking to make my videos look more profesional, and I notice after effects has effects built into its system to do effects.

After looking at this vidoe, im sold, final cut pro can not do this that quick.

You are not comparing Apples and Apples.

Adobe's equivalent of FCP is Premiere, not After Effects. After Effects is not really designed to make full length movies with - it's designed to allow you to create or add effects to 'sequences', much like Motion from Apple.

If you are going to compare After Effects to an Apple product then that would be Motion.

Which one is better? That's a matter of personal preference. Ae does some things better than Motion and Motion does some other things better than Ae. Both have a few functions that the other doesn't.

I prefer Motion for its tighter integration with the other FCS applications and the interface is much more pleasant and intuitive to work with.

Effects do NOT make your videos more professional. Professionalism is the only thing that can make your videos appear to have been produced, written, shot, and edited by a professional. Even faking professional video requires elevated professionalism.

But I truly and strongly encourage you to go ahead and purchase After Effects based solely on the Video Copilot tutorials. Know in advance that AE is about ten times as complex as FCP ever will be and you will want to post extensively in the Beginner's AE Forum on the cow.

sahys it could only be done on after effects

    No it doesn't.

Green screen in AE is controlled by the Keylight plug in, which is licensed by Adobe.

You can buy it independently, or use Primatte or dozens of others

After Effects is a fantastic program for keying, rotoscoping, 2D and 3D perspective animations and a whole slew of other things that FCp can not do or only do with limitation. After Effects is an effects program while FCP is a fantastic editor. They are two very different programs for very different functions with a bit of overlap, but not much.

How could a youtube video be WRONG?

Hey! Just wait one second! That's is NOT what is promised by Apple and whoever makes those promises! All I have to do is buy the computer and the software and I'm a "professional!"

I would also suggest extensive posting in the FCP Beginners forum on the Cow for the OP.

Well I downloaded the trail for AE, and ran through some tuts on the next, and its a very powerful program, with extreamly proffesional results....

Its just like anything you go to school for and spend hours and days learning and perfecting....If one would get into learning such things, souldnt one learn on the more proffesional one?

Yes, FCP is a good editor thats part of a bundle, and also, AE is part of a bundle, I wonder if Primere is as good? I like what I have done so far, I made someone vanish, and made a demon. I looked around for motion tutorials to do the things you could do in AE in motion, and I could not find any....

so now, which is a better editing program, ? I think I will learn adobe products, as they are the industry standard...apple is more prosumer, while adobe is PRO

Premiere in AN industry standard for some types of editing, but not most. You'll find that FCP and Avid are the big boys on campus.

I am thinking piff might just be here to cause trouble.

That's why we talk pretty this way. Jocularity, opportunity, and amusingly compelling contretemps for all.

Well, I didn't come here for a contretemps. The OP is merely making disconnected random statements with no logical connection. I paid for an argument!

Hitting on the head lessons? Ah, bompelling bountretemps from the pages of the bolour supplement.
    Silly bunt.
    Baseball metaphor?
    I think not.
