Connect IPod Touch to Netbook?

I just got a new iPod touch for Christmas and was wondering if it was possible to connect it wirelessly to my Netbook to use the internet connection. Here is my situation. I live in an area where AT&T does not have very good coverage so an iphone is out of the question unfortunatly. I do however have a netbook that has Verizon wireless broadband built in. I would like to be able to somehow connect my iPod touch to this internet connection so I can download Apps and such right to my iPod rather than to the netbook and then syncing since the netbook is not the primary computer that I sync with. I thought maybe using a Bluetooth PAN or just using an adhoc network, but I can't seem to get either to work. I've tried sharing my internet connection, but still no dice. Any ideas or is this not even possible. THANKS!!!
