Samsung 2494HS Macbook 13" Black

Hi,

I have a problem, I bought a Samsung 2494HS Display and now I cannot get the resolution that I want. In the display should be 1920x1080 but it shows only the resolution in 1280x800 which show the things bigger from the macbook.
I have the analog connection.

Should I need a driver? There is none in the webpage of Samsung for MAC.

Thanks for any help,

Hi,

I am a Genius (only a job title, sadly not a term applicable to other aspects of my life) at an Apple Store in the UK.

From what you are describing, the image on your new screen is the same as the MacBook's, then your computer is "mirroring" the video signal.

There are several solutions.

Start by going to System Preferences (choose the Apple from the top left of your screen) and then click on the Displays icon. Choose the "Arrangement" tab and you can now select to disable the mirroring option. This will create an "extended desktop" allowing you to spread windows between both displays (like having one long display).

If you want to only use your big display as your main display you can drag the menu bar (little white rectangle) to your bigger display in the "Arrangement" tab.

If you don't want an extended desktop, plug in a USB keyboard and mouse, shut the lid on your MacBook and wait for it to go to sleep. Then hit a few keys on the keyboard to wake the MacBook and now your new big display is the only one which will display an image.

Hope this helps, and enjoy using your new display!

Liam E.

Hi Liam,

Thank you very much for your help, I tried the second option and it works, but I still have a small problem. When I move the white line (Desktop) I have a 1.5 cm of remaining resolution that is left.

Why is that? I'm thinking that is a problem of driver or that my graphic card is not the appropriate for this monitor.

Thank again for any help,

Hi Jose
I have a mid-2007 2.16 black MacBook hooked up to a 22" Samsung 2243.
My setup is: On the MacBook "Display" is set to 1280 X 800, "Arangement" is MacBook to the left with the menu bar and the Samsung to the right. Mirror displays is unchecked. The Syncmaster display window shows up on the Samsung and 1920 X 1080 is selected.
I then close the MacBook and hit the space bar on the external keyboard and the menu bar/dock automatically transfers to the Samsung when the display shows up.
