I got a new computer..how do I get my library to new iTunes
I got a new computer for Christmas. I clicked on home sharing so I can see my library from the old computer and after we finish getting info from that computer to this one, it will be garbage. So I just imported a CD into my iTunes library on this new computer, so that is really my first content in this library. When I click on sync to my iPhone, it says it will have to erase all of the songs from my first computer. HELP! I don't want to lose all of that music, especially since I paid for it all. Am I missing something? I can't be ther first person to get a new computer.
Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. When you sync to another, it will first erase the music from the iphone, then replace with music from the new computer.
You need to move the content from the old computer to the new one before you sync.
Okay so I'm sort of related to this topic. My desktop dies before xmas and just got a new hp. I install itunes, set up my account back on it, and authorize my new computer. So I hook up my old hard drive and dump the old files into the new folder and everything seems fine but last night I open itunes to update my ipod touch and iphone and there's doubles of all the songs and movies and the is a exclamation point to some of them. So what do i do now? How do I delete the ones giving me trouble. Or is there a way to delete everything and start over? Thanks for the help in advance and happy new year all.
I moved my I tunes to my new laptop by copying the itunes folder from the old computer to a flash drive. When I look at my library it shows 1092 songs @ 5.90 Gigs of space. Now I am looking to copy my itunes to a new laptop that will replace the desktop that I originally copied from. I go into my music file on Windows 7 & can see the itunes folder.......BUT the properties tab indicates that the entire file, including subfolders is only 2.18 GB???????? Am I missing something here?????
i transfered my songs by a zip drive everthing worked but it only transfered purchases songs not my ones i took off cds it said it could not find the files what do i do
Well, I followed the instructions on that long article and I am now thoroughly confused. First it tells me to organize the library one way by upgrade to iTunes media organization, then when I go down to where it tells me to move the library it tells me to organize:consolidate. I don't know what to do. I am going from windows xp to windows 7, can someone direct me to a step by step youtube video or an article that is more clear on exactly what to do? I don't understand computers well, so I don't want all of the explanation, just how to step by step without fluff.
i have the same issues. i've been using a pc to sync, then my work pc to manage apps and stuff. i know want to only use itunes on my new laptop. i know i need to actual program on the laptop but how do i get all my music, purchases, apps, movies to one external harddrive so i can then just sync from my one laptop?
