Change Orientation of Pictures or Change page template

This is probably a silly question but I've tried several things and can't get it working. I want to use the slideshow template for old family photos. I have put the photos in chronological order. The problem is that on some pages I have portrait photos on a horizontal template. I don't want to change the order of the photos to make them fit. Can I change each page of the template to support either horizontal or portrait photos? I know I can move and the photos around but the crops still look bad.

Thanks,
Andrew

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Unfortunately that template is fixed and can't be changed. You can look into 3rd party slideshow applications that might be more flexible like PhotoPresenter which has over 25 animated themes. Some of them are on this demo page: PhotoPresenter Animated Slideshow Themes.

There may be a theme in iMovie that would be more flexible and you could create the slideshow in it.

I have this same problem. I have a slideshow with some portrait photos and some landscape photos. The landscape photos work fine, but the portrait photos all get squished into the landscape aspect ratio and it looks ridiculous. This happens no matter what slide show theme or template I choose. Seems like iPhoto slideshows just don't work with Portrait oriented photos. Pretty significant oversight if you ask me.
