Ipod usb connection in a car

I have a ipod usb connection as standard equipment in my car.(Kia)
However, I can't seem to get my ipod to play when I connect to the ipod usb.

I says reading usb, then gives an error.

Any suggestions?

I think you'll find the USB connectors in cars are only for iPods and other media players that have a USB Disk Mode (i.e. the player acts as a hard disk when plugged in) and the car stereo reads the music files directly over USB.

The iPod touch does not have a USB Disk Mode like other iPods, so this type of connection cannot be used with it.

rockmyplimsoul, have you tried the latest OS in your Fit? I got an ipod touch last month, and when I plug it in to my Insight, I get the error message. However, the owner's manual says it should work with Ipod touches with OS 1.1 and above. I am using a cheap ipod usb cable that worked with my nano in the car. Could the cable have anything to do with it?

This happened to me just a couple of days ago.
I have a Pioneer stereo in my car, I used to have a 5th Gen ipod and it played flawlessly...
I bought my 3rd Gen touch maybe like a month or so ago, I plugged it in my car and it gave some error (19 I think), so I disconnected it and reconnected it, I switched to the "Now Playing" screen and the stereo started playing my music like with my old ipod. Till this point everything was great.
Last week I synced my ipod with my laptop and when I went to try out my new music the stereo says "No songs"... What???
I started searching the web and according to everyone, the 3rd Gen touch is not supposed to be able to play songs this way, but I was able to do it before... You think this is some sort of update that messed up with my config?

Oh and you should try connecting your ipod when the music screen is displayed...
Can anyone give me some help/advice?
Thx in advance.
