Wireless Router - WPS Pin?

I am moving back to a mac from years on a windows machine. My new imac works perfectly though my wireless internet connection seems a bit slow. My old Dell laptop definitely has a faster connection on the same wireless router.

The imac immediately connected to my network. My windows machine needed the WPS pin from the bottom of the router. Could this be causing the speed difference? If not, where else should I look?

thanks for the assistance
Scott

I don't believe you need that for the Mac, but I would configure the router's security to use WPA2 which is more compatible with the Mac. Windows can also utilize WPA security.

Well, I may be wrong. Apparently WPS simply does an automatic security implementation for its wireless network, so I would simply follow the instructions in the router's user manual.
