playlist sync from iphone to itunes?

I recently restructured my music file directory structure on my hard drive and then removed my library and imported the files again fresh.. what I didn't think of at the time was that my playlists would be emptied and that I wouldn't be able to import them from my iphone! there must be a way to do it that I'm not thinking of, I still have the songs in itunes and on the phone at this point, it's not a matter of transferring actual files but simply getting itunes to recognize the playlists on my iphone in itunes itself so I can sync again without having to redo all my playlists!!.. can anyone point me in the right direction?

iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.6.2), everything's up to date, not sure what itunes/iphone versions etc but everything is current.
