Installing iPhone SDK 3.1.2 with Xcode 3.2.1

I have upgraded from MAC 10.5 to 10.6, downloaded the iPhone sdk 3.1.2 with Xcode 3.2.1, and started installation. The "Preparing iPhone SDK.." is running for nearly over an hour now. It did not get to the actual installation stage yet. The GO BACK and CONTINUE buttons are disabled, and I cannot quit the installer. I got an earlier version of iPhone SDK 3.1.2 with Xcode 3.1.4 before upgrading to Snow Leopard.

Is this normal for "Preparing iPhone SDK" to run this long? As I recall, the previous "Preparing iPhone SDK..." stage do not require such a long time to finish.

I am worried and not sure whether I should do a reboot.

Any help would be appreciated!

I removed the old Xcode package and did the installation again. It works!

Perhaps the installation package should give us some indications or messages if the installation hangs. I checked the process using ps aux and the CPU and memory usage did not change for a long time despite the installation window still indicating that it is in progress. So I had to kill the process.
