I'm running Logic Pro 8.0.2 on Mac OSX 10.5.8. Up until I installed Toontrack Funkmasters EZX two days ago, I haven't had any problems with Logic crashing even when using the other Toontrack soundsets. I followed the install instructions from the Toontrack site which included downloaded the lasted version of the EZDrummer. After the install, it caused my Echoaudio AudioFire 8 soundcard to sound very weird like the sound was distorted and weak. It eventually crashed Logic, which indicated there was a problem with the EZDrummer plugin. I've been messing with this since yesterday, and have reloaded the audio driver for the AudioFire 8 card. My audio is playing like normal now, but I've still having problems with Logic crashing even after I reinstalled and uninstalled EZDrummer and all soundsets.
I'm thinking it's possible the Logic file I've been working with got corrupted. I've launched Logic without the audio driver, and it doesn't crash.
Even though Toontrack shows the latest software updates work with Mac OSX 10.5.8, is it possible that it doesn't work? When I reloaded EZDrummer, I was actually able to get it to work using another Logic file and it didn't crash. Maybe the other Logic file got corrupted from the initial Funkmasters EZX install.
Right now, I'm launching Logic without the audio driver, and copying the parts to another Logic file to salvage the track I've been working on for months.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this type of problem with Logic and Toontrack soundsets.
sounds like the project got corrupted somehow, since it is only doing that on that one project
I have been using EZDrummer for a while now and just got the FunkMaster set a few months ago. I have only used it on one project so far, but have not experienced any problems. I just recently upgraded my system to a mac pro with snow Leopard from a G5 with Tiger and from LP8 to LP9 and EZD is running great. EZD used to glitch sometimes on the G5 when I had its track selected. It would give me pops and clicks sometimes on playback until I selected another track. I haven't had that yet on the Mac Pro. I think EZD likes the new Mac 🙂
Thanks for the response. Yeah, I think the original file got corrupted. I saved the same file as a different name in a new folder. After I uninstalled EZDrummer and all EZX files, the file played fine. However, when I reloaded EZDrummer and the EZX's, the same file crashed. It seems that my system has a problem with Logic Pro 8.0.2 and Mac OS X 10.5.8. I've uninstalled EZDrummer and EZX files again, and I'm finishing up copying parts from the original file (bypassing Core Audio) to a new file and folder. If the audio works okay with the new file, maybe I do have a conflict with EZDrummer.
EZD and all expansion packs work fine for me, both on a G5 and my MacPro, using 8.0.2 and 10.5.8. So does Superior Drummer and its expansion packs, for that matter.
You are using EZD 1.2.0, right? (see lower right corner of the EZD window) There have been no updates to Funkmasters (yet). Have you tried flipping the kit to Pop/Rock to see if that makes any difference? And are you using EZD in multichannel or stereo?
I updated EZDrummer to the latest version from the Toontrack website. I wasn't able to flip to the Pop/Rock kit as Logic would crash upon opening. I've uninstalled EZDrummer and the expansion packs until I finish reconstructing the file that was corrupted. When I used EZDrummer before this problem, I was only using it in stereo. I never had any issues until I installed the Funkmasters expansion.
