Export MIDI from single track?

Hi all, I am trying to find the answer to my not being able to export a single track [ all one region] as a MIDI file, when I open the file in another DAW there is no MIDI-nada. I did the other 4 tracks like this and they all worked, why would logic just stop functioning when I try to do this?the other tracks have MIDI from the beginning to end[bar 108] the track that won't export has 9 bars of rest before the MIDI starts-could that be the problem and if so, can anyone think of a way to get around this?
Thanks in advance!

I haven't had a problem with it. Make sure the region is selected then goto, File>Export>Selection as a midi file.

One thing that I noticed is that if your region starts at measure 9 and you export it. it comes into my other daw starting on measure one. you can either move it to 9 after import or in logic extend your region so that it starts on one then it exports the blank space also.

Did you merge all midi regions to prepare for export ? Keep in mind it is very important specially for Logic ! You can draw empty regions at the beginning and merge with the rest which start later if you have problems. Select all merged sequences and export.

Thank you both for your help, I apologize if the info I sent was not complete. The region[only one] spans the entire track, including the first empty 9 bars but cubase 5 won't import it, I suspect it's a steinberg thing as qbase cannot use XML[neither can Logic, but that's another battle]. Thanks again for trying.

I just wanted to ask if any of you who have been so kind as to offer suggestions had seen an instance of an exported MIDI file that contained nothing-despite the original being filled with note on/off etc. because that is what is happening with this file, it wouldn't be a problem if I could scan the original again and import it in xml 2 format, but we are not going to be allowed to play with the professionals-no wait-I bought studio 2 to get Logic Pro 9 because of bad times in Logic EXpress 7 from which one can expect this kind of limitation of possibilities, so I think it up to Apple to get this fixed.BUMP
