convert single channel audio to mono?

I copied several old VHS tapes DV tape, then imported the video to iMovie 9. During the process the mono audio that was on the original VHS tape was converted to left channel stereo with no audio in the right channel. I would like to convert this back to mono but can't seem to find an option for this.

Any suggestions?

When you export your movie go to share>export using quicktime then click the options button, then the audio tab. You can then set the audio to mono...

This is awesome! I used an external mic on my camcorder and it recorded as Right channel only. I am glad to see that when I go to export it I can convert it to mono.

What about a situation where some clips are stereo, and others are mono, right channel only? Is there a way to preserve the stereo in part of the movie, and still have the mono come from both channels on other clips?
