I am thinking about purchasing the new Apple TV, however, the old Apple TV I have would never appear in the iTunes sidebar for synching with iTunes. I've tried everything to get it to display in the iTunes sidebar but nothing ever worked. The question I have is will the new Apple TV appear in the iTunes sidebar so I can sync it with iTunes and play the movies and music in my library? Thanks!

I've double checked all my network config. and iTunes config. and the only issue is that in the iTunes pref. window, the ATV icon does not appear in the window that says Apple TVs connected to iTunes: and the check box for Looking for Apple TVs is checked. I don't know what else to check as far as config. goes.
I got tripped up before when I had my laptop connected one WiFi access point and my ATV on another. I encountered the same problem of my ATV not appearing in iTunes. Not sure if this is your issue, but worth checking. They both have to connect to the same wireless access point.
Another member recently reported buying a second ATV in the hopes of eliminating the problems he had with his first one, only to find that the second ATV had the same performance problems.
The persistent problems that many people report in this forum are the result of design deficiencies, IMHO, so there's no guarantee that a second ATV will work any better than the one you have now.
