Toshiba MK5055GSX - MBP 15" Mid 2009
Having just bought a 15" 2.53GHz MBP Mid 2009 (sensational machine), I'm upgrading the stock 250GB drive to a 500GB one in order to migrate fully away from my 320GB iMac.
Having used their drives in the past I bought a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB and fitted that. Restoring from Time Machine was fine until I booted from the new drive for the first time, whereupon I ran straight into the clicking/lagging/beach ball problem. I'm aware that there are utilities that can eliminate/correct these problems but I'd rather not use these on a brand new machine, likewise I'm not sure a future point update for OSX might undo said fixes and I'd be back to square one.
Has anyone used a Toshiba MK5055GSX 500GB drive in their mid 2009 MBP without clicking or lag/spinning beach ball. I'm sure my original late 2006 MacBook used a Tosh drive so I'm hoping that this may prove suitable.
Failing that, is there a 500GB model that does work 'out of the box' with the current MBP line?
Thanks!
