Problem with webservices.

Hello there,

Maybe someone can help. I've tried to find a solution though a search but cannot find anything.
For some unknown reason my macmini with osx leopard server doesn't work anymore.

On myiMac i get error 503 service unavailable.
When i look into my server at the webserver it says running.
I rebooted 2 times but this doesn't help. Since i'm very new at this i haven't changed anything from the default installation. All settings haven't changed. So i have a wiki server, blogs and a my page.

The logs on the server tell me something is wrong.

The 503 indicates web server is running but wikid is not provding wiki and blog services. Inspect the logs in /Library/Logs/wikid/ to diagnose further.

I can not find that log on my system. Even the time machine backups do not contain a log called wikid.

Do you have another suggestion ?

i didfind some logs using server admin console.
The wikid errorlog and access log both give me data not available.

Is it possible to do a reinstall of the webserver / wiki / blogs part ?
I have no idea how to solve my problem so i would like to reinstall that part of the server.
I did try a restore from a few days ago but this did not help.

Deleting the webfolder and reinstall the webservice doesn't help either.

Anyone an idea ?

I'm lost.

One of your earlier answers suggests that the /Library/Logs/wikid folder doesn't exist -- if this is the case, it might explain the problem. If it's missing, you can recreate it with these commands:

sudo mkdir /Library/Logs/wikid
sudo chown _teamsserver: _teamsserver /Library/Logs/wikid
sudo chmod 775 /Library/Logs/wikid

... then stop & start web service, and see if wikid can start.

Allthough from the 3 commands the 2nd didn't work (no such file or directory) after restarting the webserver i can log in to my page, and look at the wiki again.

I have no idea how this happened but it looks like i'm going to thank you very very much.

It works and i'm very glad.

Since it looks like it has something to do with the mailserver could it be that i have to configure the smtp relay option under wiki ?

It asks for:

Sender Address, SMTP relay, Username and Password.

Should i leave this to default values or change it to my server settings ?

The logs for the mailservice do not work either.
I tried to find in manuals and on the web how to create, where and how to name the but i can't find this kind of information.

I presume this goes also onder the library/logs section but what directory's do i have to create ?

There was a typo (extra space) in the second command I gave; it should've been:

sudo chown teamsserver:teamsserver /Library/Logs/wikid

...as for the second batch of errors you posted, if I'm understanding the timestamps correctly most of the errors were from before you replaced the wikid log folder; the only ones after that have to do with:

* a refused connection on 127.0.0.1:8171 -- I'm not sure, but I think this has something to do with a web interface to Podcast Producer. Is PP running on your server? Is its web app enabled (in the PP settings in Server Admin)?

* the file collaboration-availability not existing -- I see these errors on my server as well, so I think they're normal (presumably something to do with the default page detecting which services are running).

* undefined constants in /private/etc/squirrelmail/config/config.php -- I see these as well, so I think they're relatively normal.

About the mail logs: what exactly are you seeing/not seeing? Most components of the mail system log into files in /var/log, which pretty much has to exist...

Thanks for all the info.
I've rebooted the server to see what kind of errors i'm still getting.

File does not exist: /Volumes/Server HD2/ServiceData/Web/Documents/collaboration-availability

is the one that's very often there in my weblog.

SASL [conn=24] Failure: GSSAPI Error: Unspecified GSS failure. Minor code may provide more information (Key table entry not found)

Is very often in my Open Directory log.

Maybe they don't do anything i have no idea. But normally there shouldn't be an error in the logs i would think.
