I moved all my iPhones from o2 to Vodafone based on past experience of Vodafone whom I was with from 1992 until they refused to adopt iPhone. Worst move ever! Several things - did you know that they do not support visual voicemail? No mention of this on their website anywhere but when I tackled them after realising this, they were very reticent to discuss it and said they had 'no immediate plans to offer visual voicemail. Secondly, with o2 I got a good, but sometimes patchy, signal in my office. Calls often dropped out and I had to move around the building to get a strong signal. With Vodafone - NOTHING! No bars, no signal, no network coverage. NOTHING! So I had to buy a £50 box called Sure Signal which plugs into the router and gives me full 5 bars and 3G signal - but only in the office. They advertise this as having a 50 yard coverage. Nonsense. So my advice would be not to touch Vodafone.

its a bit of a strange question - as the answer totally depends upon where you are. If you look at the Ofcom coverage maps, you'll see that the difference is only marginal but there are plenty of places where there is O2 coverage and no Vodafone - and vice versa.

I'd recommend using their coverage checkers and seeing what its like in the sort of areas you inhabit.

Hi..

I was with Vodafone for many years but changed to o2 for the iPhone when it first came out. I unlocked my iPhone 3GS back in November 09 via o2 and have used a Vodafone sim since.

I live on top of a mountain with poor signal strength and travel the UK for my work and to be honest have a new lease of iPhone life on Vodafone.. No more dropped calls, sporadic Internet coverage, iam more than happy and cannot wait for my o2 contract to expire.

I am using a monthly pay sim at £25 which gives me 900mins, unlimited text and 500MB of data.. More than ample for my needs and kills o2 paltry service. Yes no visual voicemail but who cares, the service more than makes up for it.

Yes, I am a happy Vodafone customer...

I've been with Vodafone for for the lat 8 years and have enjoyed excellent coverage. However, I've just upgraded from a Sony Ericsson to iPhone and I'm beginning to regret the switch. Whilst the iPhone has superb capability it frequently drops the signal in areas where I know the strength is sufficient/good. Is it a hardware issue or is the iPhone less capable with regard to connectivity to Vodafone?
