Changed Apple ID. Now I can't change it back.

I'll keep this really short. I recently changed my apple ID from my email to mobile me name and there certainly wasn't a warning about any adverse consequences of doing so. Except, now, I can't get updates for any of the apps that I've paid for, etc., etc., Because I'm using my mobile me name it won't allow me to change it back.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

This really stinks! Apple forced me to change my ID after upgrading to ios5. It wouldn't let me use my old ID. I had to use an email address. So I went to ID change, found the IDs it had forced on me and changed user name and password. Nothing was said about losing ownership fo apps I had already purchased. Now I can't update them and will lose all the data in them when I delete and repurchase. I tried with one already.

I see by the dates of the above posts that this is a known issue, but no warnings and now no alternatives have been forthcoming from Apple.

This is a class action suit in the making.

Shame on you Apple.
