Bluetooth meltdown

I need help! Today I changed the batteries in my magic mouse and since then I cannot pair either my wireless keyboard or the mouse. The batteries are new, they are alkaline and yes they are installed properly. Bothe devices blink but pairing never occurs. I reseted PRAM and trashed the "com.apple.Bluetooth.plist" extension, but no luck. I called apple and although friendly they were not much help.
