For some reason I can't connect my PS3 to my new AirPort Extreme. It successfully scans and finds my wireless network, I enter the WPA key, but when I test the connection I can obtain the IP address & Internet connection but fail connection to the PlayStation Network. I've read a few older posts but they don't seem to offer much help.
When I do the Connection Test and get to the PlayStation Network line instead of "Succeeded" I get "Failed." There is a crawl on the bottom of the screen that says "The connection with PlayStation Network timed out." I can connect with my Xbox 360 fine since I got their upgraded (wireless N) wireless adapter.
I was using an old AirPort Express (802.11g in bridge mode off a Time Capsule) to connect the PlayStation 3 & Xbox 360. It/they worked great until it/they broke.
I may have an answer to your problem. I'm running a launch PS3 and an original AirPort Extreme. Initially, I could not get the PS3 to connect to the AP at all. I was using WPA security.
IIRC, it I had WPA2 set to accept Personal and Enterprise simultaneously. I reset the AP to do WPA2 only, the PS3 synced up with nary a complaint. I've had flawless connectivity for over 2 years now.
