iphone 3g battery lifespan

I use the iphone daily and recharge overnight. As I understand it, since I haven't typically drained the battery, each of these recharges is only a partial--i.e., it will take several recharges to equal 1 of the 400 or so battery recharges in the spec for the battery. At this rate, then, I'm assuming that the battery will have a considerably longer lifespan than the 2-year, 400 recharges advertised. I'm planning to do a lot of international travel soon, and would replace otherwise--any thoughts?

The iPhone's battery has a longer lifespan than 400 full charge and discharge cycles.

A properly maintained iPhone battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.
