AVCvideoCap seems out of date in Leopard?

I use AVCvideoCap to record TV shows off my Comcast cable box via a 400 MB firewire cable, and noticed that the current version is out of date. e.g. when selecting the time, the year options only go to 2008, and the select channel doesn't change the channel in the cable box as it used to. I downloaded the current version in the Firewire Developer Toolkit (firewiresdk26.dmg) but it still has the AVCvideoCap version from 2006 or before. If Apple isn't going to update, I would appreciate other suggestions?
