Burning to Memorex DL DVD+R
I've searched all around for this and have had no luck finding an answer.
I am a student studying film at NYU, so needless to say, I burn a lot of DVDs. I usually burn to standard DVD-R discs using iDVD, Disk Utility, or Burn, depending on what I'm burning.
For the first time though, I'm burning something that is particularly large, so I picked up some dual layer discs today at Best Buy. I wanted to get DVD-R DL but they didn't have any (maybe they don't exist?) so I picked up some Memorex DVD+R DL discs. I've tried burning three separate times in both Burn and Disk Utility using the slowest speed possible on my burner but every time I get this error:
*"The disc drive didn't respond properly and can't recover or retry."*
I've now wasted 3 of my expensive DL DVD's and can't figure out the problem. Do these Memorex discs have an incompatibility with Mac and/or the built in DVD +/- burner on my MacBook? Is there something wrong with my DVD burner? I used to have trouble with Memorex brand DVDs on my old iMac G5 back in 2004/5 but I thought those incompatibilities were a thing of the past.
Any suggestions?
Thanks very much.
