Subscribe in iCal insists on SSL port 8443

I have some public wikis with calendars that the public can view. The address of the pages is http NOT https. However, when I go to the small "i" and select "Subscribe in iCal" the link that is generated uses myserver.com:8443 instead of 8008.

Even as a signed in and authenticated user connecting via https I get an error in iCal that says "There was an error subscribing to the calendar." But, if I click on it and manually change the port part of the address to 8008 it works fine (webcal: or http: it doesn't matter).

1) Why is the port in the link defaulting to 8443 even when browsing by means of an http address?

2) How can I change it so that the link generated when browsing by http uses port 8008?

3) How come I can't subscribe to a wiki calendar even as a logged in and authenticated user on the system with port 8443 in the link?

BTW, I'm running SLS 10.6.2, using a 10.6.2 client, Safari, and the wiki/group does not correspond to a group on the system/server. I've been using wikis for general information sharing, not for groups on the system. Does that make a difference? Can't someone make a wiki/group that has nothing to do with a group on the system and still do all of this view-only for non-system users?

MBP (late 2008), iPhone 3GS, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
