Gmail freezing... slow script error

HI Sarah and welcome to Apple Discussions...

Open Keychain Access (Application/Utilities).

Select Passwords on the left. Then delete the Gmail account on the right. Quit the Keychain Access application and try to log into Gmail. If it still gives you problems...

From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari / Preferences and select the Security tab.

Click: Show Cookies

Delete: mail.oogle.com

Relaunch Safari and try to logon to GMail.

Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.

I have had issues with Safari crashing in GMail [I think its something to do with the GChat] on THREE machines now, my brothers, a friend's, mine, etc.. this seems to not be an isolated issue.

I am having the same problem, since yesterday Jan 7 2010. I have safari, my gmail freezes upon opening and I can't do anything. The little wheel spins. I also think there might be a chat issue (I don't use chat) because there is a long list of chat, chat, chat, etc showing on the lower left side. I am not getting an error notice at all.
I have been able to view my gmail email from my ipod touch.

THIS IS EXACTLY MY ISSUE!

I'm having the exact same issue. Has anyone been able to figure out a fix?

I am also having this same problem. Did gmail make some big change 2 days ago?

I'm also having this problem and it did not start for me until yesterday, 1/7. I really hope it will be fixed soon.

I am having the same problem for the past several days. I can use my gmail in the basic html but I still cant use gchat or click on anything without the wheel spinning for like 5 min until it tells me I have a slow script. I tried Carolyn suggestions at the top but that didnt work. Did anyone have any success yet?

This is also happening to my computer. When I log onto my gmail account, safari automatically freezes and I've noticed the gchat on the left hand side is multiplied. I've had to force quit the computer every time I've tried to log on. I had my brother log onto gmail from his PC and it worked just fine. Please help!

I'm having this same problem...

"Chat" appears a couple dozen times on the left side of the screen...
And the color wheels spins and spins and spins, until I Force Quit.

I am having the same problem and it seems from everyone that has posted on here I have been having the problem the longest (since Tuesday 1-5-10).

I can still access my email using my iPhone, but have had to force quit Safari everytime I have tried to log into my personal gmail account using my computer. I also have a school email account that is run by gmail and have had no trouble logging into that account. Interestingly enough this email account does not have chat capabilities, I believe because it is a school email account it has never had the option.

I believe that this problem is an issue on random gmail accounts, and am not sure if it is just Mac/Safari users, or if this problem could be happening to some PC users also. Has anyone happened to search any forums for anything other than just Mac/Safari users? I plan on looking into that next.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Also, has anyone tried to contact gmail and received any response?

Having the same problem when using Safari.
It's normal when using Firefox or Chrome though.
