Connecting G4 tower to Mac Studio display monitor

I would like to connect my G4 tower to a Apple Studio display monitor, but the connectors do not match. I bought a ADC to DVI adapater by belkin (ACD 30 Male to DVI 124 female) but this does not match. Is there a correct adapter? I think I need a ADC 30 Female to a ?? Male. Any one can help?

Hi-

To use the ADC to DVI adapter, one must have an ADC port equipped graphics card, and then use the adapter to connect a DVI monitor.

Of course, if you have an ADC port equipped card, then you don't need an adapter to connect an ADC monitor.

If you are trying to connect a DVI port to an ADC monitor, then you need this:

What graphics card, and what G4 are you using?

If you look closely at your ADC display, I believe you will see that it does not have a power cord. It is powered across the oval-shaped ADC connector by a 28 Volt power supply in the computer.

While the oval ADC connector supplies this power (provided your computer and graphics card can source it), the more squared-off DVI connector does not supply this power. That is why the Apple DVI-to-ADC converter contains its own AC power cord and power supply, and why it costs US$100.

No G4 Tower shipped with a graphics output port from the motherboard. They ALL relied on an Apple-provided Accelerated Graphics Port AGP-slot card (typically the top slot card) or a PCI slot card (some other slot). A great many G4 models shipped with a great many graphics cards, and some were even replaced by eager owners with Aftermarket cards.

The history of the options on these cards spans at least seven different G4 Tower models mentioned in this article, with quite a lot of different capabilities, different connectors, and compatibility with different displays:
