iTunes deleted Backup restore point

Hi.

I just did a Firmware restore on my iPhone and then chose a new name for it(this was just to faultfind/troubleshoot for a internet issue).
I the realized the old backup was deleted from iTunes restore units(in settings).

So now I lost all my Notes, Photos, Settings, and Text Messages(SMS).
Is there any way to recover this lost backup?

And why did iTunes delete the backup in the first place?! Isn't that why it's called a backup?

PC, Windows 7, iPhone 3GS

I just encountered the same problem and I'm looking like crazy on the internet to find a solution but I can't find one. If you find one let me know because I lost everything I did between december 18, 2009 and yesterday. The strangest thing is that I do on regulary bases a backup and I even did one the day I had to restore my iPhone and the only backups I find are both of december 18, 2009...

I TOO have the same problem. I had some pics on my iphone 3g s that NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I DELETED THEM through iphoto, they would still be on my iphone- so I just figured to erase all of my content and restore my phone through itunes, to an older iphone back up date. Now, every time I plug my iphone into my imac, and that's every day!, it syncs and backs up and shows this by the bar in itunes. Plus it takes a while, so I have to wait for it to finish backing up- so now I go to find the back up dates and there's nothing but one date from the beginning of 2009 ....WHAT!!?? can any one help us? Why is this mess backing up and having nothing to show for itself!?
