apple tv- how to turn Apple TV off.

appletv doesn't have an "off" button.

you can put it to "sleep" but not "off".

Push and hold menu for like 6 seconds. Really just a very low power stand by not a full power off. It does still poll iTunes (if open) on syncing machine now and then to see if it needs to sync anything new.

as you said, that isn't "off" though.

As far as I know, you can't really turn it "off". Either use the menu button or select "standby" in the settings menu.

I guess if you really wanted to turn it "off", you could plug it into a power strip with a switch and switch it off after each use. But you may have issues due to the constant booting and re-booting.

Every time you remove power (turn off) it always re-boots and brings up the tv screen wave animation (start up). That's how you know it was "off".

It's only marginally less power hungry than normal on mode.

Lots of things still active and video output as black.
