imac 27 i7 display is not turning on at all

Im trying to fix my brother's new imac 27 i7 right now. The screen will not turn on at all. When I turn on the computer, I do not even hear the chime, but I hear the fan and the hard drive. I know there is a lot of problems with flickering and stuff, but his display isnt turning on at all. Any advice of what to do will be appreciated.

Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964

+1. Shut down the computer.+
+2. Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+3. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
+4. Release the power button.+
+5. Attach the computers power cable.+
+6. Press the power button to turn on the computer.+

Then restart resetting the PRAM > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

+Restart holding the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears and hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.+

Then if the iMac refuses to startup properly it's likely a hardware problem and you will need to contact Apple Support. > http://www.apple.com/support/contact/

Thank You Dennis

I tried reseting the SMC and now the fan turns on at start up. The screen still doesn't turn on. =(
Reseting the PRAM didn't work either.

DJ:

The best advice would be to call Apple, explain, get a work number and then bring it in to be checked and let the Genius Bar fix it. What else are you going to do: buy additional software to check it out, erase the HD and download the OS again from the system disc that came with the computer?
