Text to Speech won't turn off

Text to Speech won't turn off

My computer started talking to me suddenly this morning. I went under system preferences, and it is marked "off," yet a voice is still telling me every thing that is on the screen. We also tried restarting the computer. Please advise!

Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Check the "Universal Access" panel in System Preferences. Select the "Seeing" tab and see if "VoiceOver" is on.
