No driver for lexmark z25?

Ok. I just purchased my 1st imac. So I'm a noobie.

Have an old z25 lexmark printer. Connect to imac via USB but no driver?

Searched the internet and could not find any Z25 driver that will work? Download one on the lexmark website but it will not install on my OS X 10.6? Get to setup screen and it asks me to click on "printer center" button but nothing happens after that. No errors? Just does nothing?

So do I have to go and purchase a new printer?

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

So the driver for 10.3 isnt foward compatible?

No, the drivers aren't generally forward compatible, and it's up to Lexmark to release a driver that is compatible with 10.6. Does Lexmark still support this printer? If they stopped driver development 3 OSs ago, I doubt that they do.

Is that the reason the printer driver will not install on OS x 10.6?

PrintCenter doesn't exist anymore, setup is done through the Print & Fax Prefs, so this may be why the installation is failing. Console may have some relevant output. And this is one of the reasons why drivers aren't forward compatible - the programs they rely on may be renamed or not exist anymore.

Hope this helps.

Thx for the info.

Guess it doesnt matter now that my Z25 printer doesnt work.

16 days after getting my new 13.3 macbook I hit the power button and got the GREY screen of death!! The diagnosis is my HDD crapped out:( Guess the apple is really no different than a pc. May just get my money back!! For what I payed for this macbook I could have bought 2 laptops and a desktop....very disappointed!!
