I've noticed recently that I'm no longer getting any sound when I receive a push notification. The alert itself comes through visually, but it's silent.
Sound is otherwise working -- receiving telephone calls, SMS alerts, iPhone through the speaker, etc.
Yes, all apps that support push notifications have sound turned on.
Specifically, I'm seeing alerts but no sound from things like Mint, Foursquare, and Facebook apps.
(Although, Facebook just launched push notifications into the app, and those notifications are working intermittently.... but not with sound, at any rate.)
No sounds? Me too! But then I've never gotten anything better than flaky performance from push notification. I thought it was just because I was in NYC but other people seem to not have any problems. I'm wondering if our problems are related.
I think the developed has to program a sound for the App. I don't get any for Facebook, like you guys, but I do for ESPN Scorecenter. So I think it may be an individual app thing.
I am having the same problem and it is not application related. I have 2 iPhone 3GS phones both running OS 3.12, however one of the phone is factory unlocked and that one does not produce any sound when the alert comes through. I do get sound from the same app on the other phone.
Same here.
One fine morning, iPhone decided that push notifications should be mute, although they are all on.
It's bad enough the iPhone doesn't have a SIMPLE light like the blackberry to warn of pending things without having to check it directly, but this is just sad.
