Airport Express indicator light - stuck on yellow

Hi Guys.
My airport express is showing steady yellow,
I read and apple says it means it has an error and it will try to reconnect after 60 seconds.
I does try t reconnect (green light for 1 second , after 60 seconds of yellow).

I have no wireless netrk cause of that, and i cant even access the device from my mac using the"airport utility" cause it does not locate the device.

I tried unplugging it from the outlet many times - with no success.

Any ideas?

Thank a lot !

assuming that your airport express (AX) is to become your main wireless router, and that it is connected to your cable modem via ethernet cable, you could try this:

first, +factory restore+ your AX. pull it from power and use a paper clip or pointy object to press the reset button. keep the button pressed while you re-plug the AX into the outlet until the status light flashes amber rapidly (8-10 seconds).

then click on the airport icon User uploaded file in your menu bar. you should see something like +Apple network bj1234567+ or similar (it may take a little while for it to show up). in order to set up the AX, you will have to temporarily join its network ! you will get a message asking +do you really want to switch networks ?+ and you do want to do that.

launch airport utility (AU) - you should see the AX now. click on the icon of the AX once to highlight it and click continue. follow onscreen instructions and, when prompted, choose to +create a wireless network+ and enter the required information for your ISP. click update

once the AX restarted, click manual setup, browse through the tabs to give it a name, set up the base station password and network security. you should go for "WPA/WPA2" and choose a non-dictionary password made up of letters and numbers. update the unit again when done.

does that work ?

Hi and thank you.

I tried the reseting like you suggested,i clicked on the reset button untill it flashed amber-indid this happened after like 8 seconds.
Right after stopped pressing on the reset button - it went back to steady amber/yellow.

I was trying to continue with your instructions - but the AX was not recognized by the mac/air port utility.

What else should i try?

Thanks a lot

I can't tell from your post whether the light is not working, but your AirPort Express (AX) is still functioning or whether you have no function at all.

No light usually indicates that the internal power supply on the AX has failed and it will need to be replaced. If your AX is not functioning at all, I'm afraid that the trip to the Apple store will be for a new AX.
