iPod touch not recognized by computer

Basically when I plug my new iPod touch 32 gb into my computer nothing happens until a message appears saying "Apple Mobile Device has stopped working and has closed" or along those lines. The ipod touch doesn't appear in 'my computer' or anywhere else in any form. I've reinstalled iTunes twice now with no change.
The weird thing is that then I plug my ipod touch into other computers it is recognized and when I plug other iPod touchs into MY computer my computer recognises them. I've tried the Stopping and restarting of the Apple Mobile Device but the same message still appears.
Any help welcome

"Apple Mobile Device has stopped working and has closed"

Let's see if your Vista has been recording any additional information about those crashes, Flurin.

Head into your Problem Reports and Solutions control panel and click on your Problem History. Check through there for Apple Mobile Device Support problem reports. Open each of them, and check through the information. Do they all seem to say the same thing? If so, paste the contents of a typical problem report into a reply here, so we can have a look at it.

Drat. It's not telling us anything new.

Doublechecking, Flurin ... do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista? The complete uninstall and reinstall instructions for iTunes and AAS aren't currently (at the time of my post) accurate for 64-bit systems. So if you're 64-bit, I'd like to revisit the install/uninstall thing with accurate instructions for verifying that iTunes and AMDS components are completely uninstalled.

Im having a problem with my 2g ipod touch. When it was restarted from the battery being low I plugged it in to my tv charger and when I started it back up the screen was white, even when you hit the home button and the wake/sleep button. (it did change color then the buttons where pressed, I even turned the volume up and I herd the opening noise when I slid my finger on the white screen) It's not responding with my computer. I tryed to restore it but a error message came up (error 1660 has accrued) Now it wont do any thing at all, turn on, sync, make noise, or any thing. What should i do??

Mcafee Total Protection (Firewall)
COMODO FireWall
Windows Firewall

Crikey. Are you running *all three* firewalls simultaneously?

That's not best practice with security software ... the different apps can conflict with each other if they are all running simulataneously (since they are each attempting to implement rules for access on a given program with internet capabilities).

By way of experiment, try disabling *all but one firewall.* Perhaps start by just leaving the Microsoft firewall up and running. Are you able to get recognition under those circumstances?
