Using Classilla

Hi,

I've installed the Classilla web browser on my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet and I think it's pretty good.

Questions: Are there any discussion forums for Classilla users to help one another? I searched but haven't yet found any.

I have encountered a problem with one discussion forum website in particular

It loads and displays okay, but the function buttons to reply, edit, quote, etc. don't appear. I've added the execute JavaScript option and tried both the standard and experimental renderers but it still doesn't work right. (It used to work perfectly with Mozilla, but the function buttons don't work with iCab or Internet Explorer either.)

Is there anything else I can try using Classilla? I would like to make it work.

Thanks!

This is the forum webpage.

http://f3.webmart.de/f.cfm?id=2385371&l=2

But you have to register to post and posting is my problem (reply, quote, edit, etc. buttons don't appear). I am signed in as a member and they still don't appear. I also tried the "view-style-none" option and it still doesn't work.

I sure would like to make Classilla work.

Thanks!

You may be out of luck with that site. I tried on my iMac which runs 9.2.1 and Classilla wouldn't display the edit button, etc. (iCab couldn't handle the site at all with JavaScript enabled, but the iMac only has 96 MB of memory.)

I tried the site with iCab in Classic (9.2.2) on my eMac and it displayed the edit button, etc., but the eMac has maxed out memory. Classilla wouldn't display the buttons. I didn't try booting into 9.2.2 and trying with Classilla from there.

The following discussion site is also an email list that you can subscribe to. It is used regularly by the developers of Classilla who are quite good about answering questions:

http://groups.google.com/group/macos9/

I'd forget about that f3.webmart.de site above, whatever it is.

As for Classilla, it is definitely better than Mozilla 1.3.1 at this point. However, i still keep IE 5.1 around because it will download some pages that neither Mozilla nor Classilla will, and IE rarely crashes. iCab is the worst of all--crashes almost every timne i run it. Total shyte.

Thanks for trying the Flyingbrick site. I'll play with iCab some more, but it wouldn't work before.

Also thanks for the Googlegroups info. I'll join up over there.

Classilla in general works better than Mozilla but a couple of my favorite most used sites that worked on Mozilla do not work with Classilla. One is a library (Access NewspaperArchive.com) that worked perfectly on Mozilla but not at all with Classilla. I can make it work with Internet Explorer, altho not perfectly, so I guess it's okay.

Thanks!
