Delete Bookmark Menu Bookmarks

Click the "Show All Bookmarks" icon

Just delete the bookmarks from there.

Of course it does, and there is no other way of doing it.

You click on the bookmark to highlight it and press your delete key.

I think you may be be opening Top Sites instead of Bookmarks.

Must be a Snow Leopard thing because I simply cannot understand the problem.

Hopefully a SL user will pop in.

To delete bookmarks:

Click the open-book icon to view your bookmark list.

The sidebar on the left shows collections, such as the bookmarks bar or other collections you’ve created. Individual bookmarks are listed on the right. If you can’t see the list of bookmarks because Cover Flow view is covering it, drag up on the handle below the Cover Flow scroll bar.

Select any bookmarks or collections you want to get rid of, and press Delete.

You can’t remove the bookmarks bar or Bookmarks menu from the sidebar. You can’t remove History and All RSS Feeds, but you can delete individual bookmarks within them.

If that didn't help, try maintenance...

From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...

From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.

Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.

If you are running Safari in 64 bit mode, try running in 32-bit mode instead. Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.

I was having trouble deleting bookmarks that were unused and unwanted. After reading all the posts I tried this and it WORKED.
Go the bookmarks menu and select - show all bookmarks. This should bring up the web pages at the top that are bookmarked and at the bottom of the page it will list them as they are in your bookmark. If they are not there (my history actually showed up) to the left of the screen under collections click on bookmarks menu. It should show up at the bottom of the page. If you highlight the one you want to remove and then right click it will ask you what you want to do, click delete. It worked for me.

Related to this, is there a way to delete the silly preview page view when i open 'show all bookmarks?' This just takes up space and is useless for me. I just need a listing without the page preview taking up half the screen. There should be a way to close or delete this "feature" but how to is not obvious. Thanks. -wayne

I have a slightly different problem. My bookmarks appear in the Compilations menu when I "Show all bookmarks" but none of them appear in the Bookmarks drop-down menu. How do I get them to show up there?

it's not there - all my bookmarks do not show on that click ?
