Slow Performance on my iPod Touch

Recently my Touch has been performing much slower. Even when putting in my passcode, there will be a few second delay before the * start showing up. I notice it in all my applications now. It is really getting annoying. Does anyone have any ideas. I am running the current version of the OS.

Thanks, Steve

This happens man. Main thing is that the iPod Touch only has 64 Megs of ram (give or take) that is available to the user (where the 3GS has 128 as well as a faster CPU). What can happen is that safari or mail is still running in the background, mail could be checking for it, or your wifi could be scanning. All these take up CPU cycles and unfortunately you can actually experience the slowdown on slower machines. As for the password I'm assuming that it's the unlock password. This happens to me too because pretty much, the timing between power on and password typing coincides with the iDevices' power on, checking for wifi power, scanning for known networks then attempting to connect to one if found, and causes a slight 'chug' in the UI. Can't be fixed LEGITIMATELY.

Thanks for the update! DJ J3W - I have another question.
When i purchased my iPOD Touch 16GB(iPhone OS 2.1) in 2008, the page movement, application close/open, Notes open/close worked without any Jerk.
but once i installed 3.0 and 3.1.2 it shows a little lag in all the applications that i work on. Is it because of the new software version or is there something wrong with my iPOD?
Also - I heard that iPOD Touch has 128MB RAM and 3GS has 256MB RAM. Is that right?
