Many problems with 3gp files.....

I have a few videos taken on my phone that I am trying to work with. I'd like to rotate one 90 degrees CW, but I'm many steps away from that as I cannot get the video to play correctly in Quicktime Player 10. When the file is opened, its just a green screen...when I click Play, I can hear the audio, but the video is a bunch of garbled mess. The video is using the following codecs: H.264 and AAC. I tried to rename the extension to mp4 but same issue. Although, when I renamed to mp4, I can now import into iMovie, but I haven't figured out how to rotate it there and save either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Also, another little oddity.....even though Quicktime will not play the videos, when I'm looking at the file in the Finder, it will play just fine in the preview window.
